Project Overview
This project involved designing and developing a fully custom internal production system for a manufacturing company operating with multiple clients, materials, and production workflows.
Rather than adapting off-the-shelf software, the system was architected around actual factory operations, ensuring that digital workflows reflect how production, logistics, and decision-making happen in reality.
Business Challenges
Before implementation, production data was distributed across multiple tools, manual spreadsheets, and informal communication channels. This created challenges such as:
- Limited visibility into real-time production status
- Manual and error-prone cost calculations
- Difficult coordination between office staff and shop-floor workers
- Fragmented project and client data
- No single source of truth for production planning
Solution
The result is a centralized internal manufacturing platform that connects production planning, execution, and reporting into a single system.
The platform provides real-time visibility into projects, clear production statuses, and structured data flows between departments — enabling faster decisions and reducing operational friction.
Key Features
Project & Production Management
- Centralized project creation and tracking
- Clearly defined production statuses (preparation, production, quality control, shipping, archived)
- Visual progress indicators for each project
- Priority management and workload control
CNC & Panel Cutting Logic
- Project structures prepared for panel cutting and CNC workflows
- Material usage calculations for sheet-based production
- Foundation for optimization and machine-driven processes
Paint & Finishing Cost Calculation
- Paint and finishing cost calculations per project
- Tracking of material consumption for painted, veneered, and plain products
- Clear separation of production types and finishing methods
Shop-floor Workflow
- Production status updates directly from the workshop floor
- Interfaces optimized for iPad usage by employees
- Real-time synchronization between production and management views
Accounting & Cost Control
- Internal accounting logic connected directly to production data
- Cost visibility per project and per production stage
- Basis for margin analysis and operational reporting
Client Data Import & Management
- Import and normalization of data from multiple clients
- Unified internal project structure regardless of client formats
- Clean separation of external client identifiers and internal logic
Manufacturing Management System Architecture
This manufacturing management system was designed as a modular, scalable platform capable of evolving alongside real production requirements. Core modules such as project tracking, production workflows, and cost calculations are separated at the logic level while remaining tightly integrated through shared data structures and consistent business rules.
The system architecture follows a domain-driven approach, where manufacturing processes, production stages, and operational constraints are modeled directly in code. This ensures that digital workflows accurately reflect real factory operations rather than forcing production teams to adapt to generic software limitations.
A clear separation between data handling, business logic, and user interfaces allows individual components to be modified or extended independently. As a result, new production stages, cost models, reporting views, or automation rules can be introduced without disrupting existing workflows or affecting system stability.
By avoiding rigid off-the-shelf ERP constraints, the platform supports long-term maintainability, predictable performance, and continuous improvement. The architecture is designed to scale with both production volume and organizational complexity, making it suitable for long-term operational use in real manufacturing environments.
